The advance of artificial intelligence and changing business services herald a different role for people, led by flexibility and free thinking.
Breakout spaces for creative thought, informal co-working, or meetings with clients are no longer a luxury. They are the future of business.
They also help with legislation requiring staff to take breaks, or employers to provide food and drinks facilities. Neither will people need to leave for the morning coffee run, or to find personal space.
Breakout spots for employees to relax, eat lunch, or get together keeps their focus internal without detriment to them. Socially active, variable environments are enjoyable and motivational.
Building Creative Hubs
The space you have available will give pointers, along with your company culture. A core rule is to make breakout spaces feel different from your regular workspaces, a genuine change of scenery.
A separate room isn’t essential, parts of open plan space can be subtly, or clearly screened off. Small spaces can come into play, a couple of comfortable chairs in a neatly differentiated corner may be fine.
Breakout areas don’t have to be built for food consumption, or you could have more than one. Great ideas for your company can be born in group areas, or cosy niches for one or two people.
Tech companies such as Google and Amazon design and build extensive breakout spaces. You may wish to do so, or a few multi-purpose chairs around a table, or a couple of sofas can make employees feel as comfortable.
Input From Morgan Stewart
Whether you choose a small corner, or an entire floor, our commercial designers give the same thought to lighting, acoustics, colour, wifi availability.
The point on creating a separate character is important but can be achieved without significant cost. From aesthetic touches, to flooring, to bringing a little of the outside inside, plants, or natural murals.
Making a place both contemplative and energising comes from good design. Which we back up with an excellent installation team and established relationships with high quality furniture, or materials suppliers.
We enjoy seeing the positive impact great breakout spaces have on your employees and business. If we can help, please get in touch.
